Darcy Rincon

Darcy Rincon is a Colombian Microbiologist with a Master’s degree in Design from Universidad de los Andes. Coming from one of the most biodiverse countries in the world and with a family background in rural farming, she is deeply interested in sustainable agricultural systems and the development of agro-productive cities.
She is the Co-founder of Inspira System, a venture with environmental and social impact, recognized as a winner of Design Climate Action by Be Open.
Her work explores the intersection of biotechnology, biomaterials, and design, with a focus on how living systems can transform design, architecture, fashion, and material science.
Since 2024 as a Lecturer at Universidad de los Andes, she has contributed to the creation of courses to Emphasis in Biodesign in the Design Undergraduate Program and the coordination of the BioArqDis Lab, an interdisciplinary biodesign research laboratory. She has led research on bacterial pigments for textiles, bio-based material development, and interdisciplinary education in biodesign. Additionally, she develops educational experiences and outreach programs that inspire future scientists and designers, always seeking to connect scientific research with creative innovation.
